General Adult Program

Adult PHP Treatment at HRI Hospital: Why Choose Us?

The adult partial hospitalization program (PHP) at HRI Hospital helps adults 18 and older recover from mental health issues, such as severe depression and anxiety. The program provides the structure and support of inpatient care without a hospital stay.

Our PHP mental health program meets Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. You may attend in person or virtually. We provide breakfast and lunch if you come in person. People typically attend our program for two weeks.

For decades, we have helped people in the Brookline and Boston area heal from mental health conditions. Our compassionate staff customizes treatment to your needs. You get the tools you need to be the best version of yourself.

At HRI Hospital, you’ll find:

  • High-quality care: HRI Hospital maintains national accreditation from The Joint Commission, recognizing our commitment to high-quality care.
  • Skilled care providers: You meet with master’s-level therapists for group therapy sessions each day. A nurse practitioner helps with medication management, and your case manager connects you with resources you may need.
  • Evidence-based treatment: Our treatments are rooted in current research and our clinical knowledge. Treatment methods include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which give you the coping skills you need to recover.
  • Structured environment: Your day is structured with five different therapy groups, plus breaks throughout the day. Each group focuses on a different topic, such as communication skills, emotion regulation and self-care.
  • Dual-diagnosis track: If you are dealing with substance use issues in addition to mental health concerns, we can help. Our dual diagnosis program offers treatment for both mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Convenient location: Our facility is easy to reach via public transportation. We are within walking distance of the subway and multiple bus stops. You can also find ample parking.
  • Virtual programming: You may attend our partial hospitalization program in person or online.
