Dual Diagnosis Program

HRI Hospital’s inpatient dual diagnosis program is for adults with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. This unit can treat patients whose primary disorder is substance use. This program gives adults a space to receive care in both areas during their stay.

People with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders benefit from an environment where they can develop coping skills for a lasting recovery for all their needs, not just one or the other. The program aims to stabilize both conditions, identify the root cause of the problems and provide around-the-clock intensive care. Our goal is to help these patients move toward long-term mental wellness and sobriety. Before addressing the co-occurring disorders, it’s important to know which came first. For example, was the patient’s anxiety disorder caused by drug use or does he or she use drugs to alleviate an underlying mental disorder? The answer to this question is crucial to recovery.

Treatment in this program can include Detoxification, Relapse Prevention, Group Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and more
